Asiedu Nketiah sacrificed Haruna Iddrisu as part of the restructuring process

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the national opposition leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has defended his decision to remove the party's leadership from parliament.

He claims that the removal of Haruna Iddrisu and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak as Minority Whip and  Minority Leader is part of a reorganization plan designed to help the party gain political power in the 2024 election in order to fight in the 2024 election. “We

started at the industry level more than a year ago. Since then, elections have been held in about 40,000 branches, and from there we have advanced to the constituency level.”

Most constituencies have been completed, regional and national elections have been held and the next step is to review our parliamentary leadership. In an interview with JoyNews, Asiedu Nketiah stated, "We just did that." He pointed out that the timing of the match decision and its intended effect is consistent with plans to fully prepare the match for the upcoming race telling you about time that change is the only thing that stays the same.

He explained: “Leadership has to adapt to the new environment because the environment changes.

Mr. Nketiah explained why he was sacked by saying that as debates in Parliament  shift to energy, infrastructure, and the economy, the party needs to hire new staff and we need the best people in those areas to make your arguments effectively." For example, we are aware that the economy will be the main battlefield in the elections in 2024 and many debates will focus on the economy.

So you need to appoint your most trusted economic adviser, which is what we have done.” former minister, as minority deputy leader.

"The other area is infrastructure, Kwame Agbodza, our infrastructure expert, should play a key role. That's usually the reason for the changes," he added. However, some party members believe that  Minority Leader's decision not to support him in his bid for party leadership is to blame for the National President's action and have criticized his rationale as fabricated.

Why Minority Leadership was Fired by Asiedu Nketiah

The reasons for the decision of the president of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)  to dissolve the minority faction in parliament led by Haruna Iddrisu are becoming increasingly clear.

The reason, according to the information,  was the decision of the leaders of the minority faction not to support the former general. Secretary's candidacy for the party's federal presidency. It should be remembered that Ahmed Ibrahim, Whip Minority MP and Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda,  at the launch of the campaign for Asiedu Nketiah stated that the leadership of the minority had expressed their support for Mr. Nketiah.

However, a statement signed by minority leader Haruna Iddrisu denied that the leaders of the minority faction had met in Parliament and decided to support Johnson Asiedu Nketiah's campaign for the national presidency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Iddrisu urged the grassroots and the general public to ignore the alleged statement made during the launch in a disclaimer distancing the faction from a statement by Ahmed Ibrahim.

He continued, “I would also like to urge all caucus members to refrain from making comments of this nature for the foreseeable future".

These claims are categorically denied by the caucus leaders. Ibrahim Ahmed and I would like to state the following:

  •  that the caucus leaders have not met to discuss the issue and have not yet made a decision on it
  • that the caucus did not meet and make no decision regarding any candidates for party office
  •  that neither the leadership nor the caucus has an opinion on any of the candidates running for party office

Your Honor. Ahmed Ibrahim informed him of the problem and has since apologized unreservedly to the caucus as a whole.

For this reason, we ask our employees as well as the general public to ignore the alleged statement. made during startup.

In addition, we would like to ask all caucus members to stop making such comments immediately. Honorable Minority Leader MP Haruna Iddrisu
